DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This position involves supervision of maintenance and cleaning activities for a building or buildings and related systems. Duties include assigning and overseeing the work of maintenance and cleaning staff. Work is performed under general direction of higher level staff, with considerable leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in keeping buildings and equipment up to approved standards of cleanliness and operation. This class is distinguished from Custodian by the level of responsibility, supervision over subordinate staff, and independent action. Direct supervision is exercised over subordinate employees. Performs related work as required.
