APPROVAL/LOCAL LAW/AMEND ARTICLE 2, SECTION 2.09/PUTNAM COUNTY
CHARTER/ENTITLED “AUDITS”
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the County of Putnam as follows:
Section.
Article 2, Section 2.09 of the Putnam County Charter is hereby amended to read as
follows:
The County Legislature shall, on an annual basis, provide that an independent audit be
performed of the accounts of the County and of every County department, office and
agency. Where appropriate, a single audit or audits may be commissioned by the
Legislature as required by law. The audit shall be made by a qualified accountant or
accounting firm, so designated by the Legislature, which has no personal or professional
conflict of interest with respect to the affairs of the County or of any of its departments,
offices or agencies.
Section 2.
This local law shall take effect forty-five (45) days after its adoption subject to
referendum on petition in accordance with the provisions of Section 24 of the New York
State Municipal Home Rule Law.
