DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: An incumbent of this position is responsible for monitoring the operation of video surveillance cameras installed on school buses. Duties will involve making sure recording tape, drive space, or other recording materials are installed and changed as needed, and that video recording is operating as needed. Work is performed under direct supervision of a higher level school employee or school administrator. Supervision over others is not a responsibility of this position. Performs related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)
Monitors installed video cameras or digital video cameras to record as needed on school buses and/or other school district locations;
Removes videotapes, hard drives, or other digital video recording material, and replaces as necessary, so that recording can continue;
Confirms proper operation by checking power, recording, basic camera condition, and reports non-working units or problems on repair chart;
May review/watch recorded content as directed by supervisor;
Performs a variety of related duties as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Basic technical aptitude and ability to learn to properly operate video and digital video camera equipment; basic familiarity with the recording/surveillance needs of the school district; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or possession of a comparable diploma.
