DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is skilled work involving responsibility for assisting in the performance of a variety of masonry tasks and odd jobs. Direct supervision is received from the Maintenance Mason regarding tasks to be performed. Performs related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)
Assists in building and repairing concrete bridges and retaining walls, and headwalls of concrete and rubble stone;
Assists in building and repairing catch basins, manholes, guide posts and monuments;
Assists in general highway construction and maintenance tasks;
May operate a motor vehicle with snow plow, sander and related attachments in the removal of snow and ice;
Performs a variety of related activities as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Working knowledge of the common practices, tools, terminology and accident precautions of the trade; ability to operate cement mixing equipment; ability to follow oral and written instructions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One (1) year of experience as a laborer.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Access to transportation may be required to complete possible field work assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
