News & Press Release

All Putnam County Government Offices, with the exception of essential services will be closed Friday, 12/23/22

23 December 2022

An important message from County Executive MaryEllen Odell:

Due to the deteriorating weather conditions, all Putnam County Government Offices, with the exception of essential services will be closed Friday, 12/23/22.

Numerous roads throughout Putnam County are closed due to downed trees and power lines. Many areas of the County are experiencing power outages.

High winds with heavy rain are making driving conditions extremely dangerous. While temperatures are currently above freezing, we expect a drop in temperatures to occur in the afternoon. As temperatures plunge below freezing, accumulated water will freeze causing slippery conditions.

Temperatures overnight will remain well below freezing. “Our highway crews are working to keep our roads passable but with high winds and driving rain, it’s a difficult task,” said County Executive Odell, “remember, if you are outside you should take care whether walking or driving.”

Please note the following:

  • All Putnam County Government Offices, with the exception of essential services will be closed Friday, 12/23/22
