DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Work involves overall responsibility for directing and coordinating the planning, organization, evaluation of effectiveness, and administration of all training courses conducted at the Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services Training and Operations Center. These responsibilities include involvement in the preparation and management of budget for training and education programs, advising students and assessing student learning outcomes, and creating and maintaining relationships within the local community, state and national emergency services education agencies. Work is performed under general supervision of the Director of Emergency Medical Services. Supervision is provided to lower level employees such as Certified Instructor Coordinators and Lab Instructors. Performs related work as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES & PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of relevant theory, techniques and applicable laws, rules and regulations, of various emergency services areas of training; good knowledge of operation of specialized equipment utilized in emergency services; good knowledge of budgeting and appropriation practices; good knowledge of the effectiveness of various training methodologies and motivational techniques; ability to develop training programs incorporating different teaching approaches and meeting specific instructional needs; ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Graduation from high school or possession of a comparable diploma, and five (5) years of experience as an emergency medical technician, of which two (2) years shall have been in an education or supervisory position.
