Putnam County, New York is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Commissioner of Finance.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This is highly responsible work which involves acting for and in place of the Commissioner of Finance in his absence or other inability to act. The position involves responsibility for maintaining county accounting records in conformance with the Uniform System of Accounts and applicable state and local statutes. Work is performed under and in conjunction with the Commissioner of Finance and the First Deputy Commissioner of Finance. Supervision is exercised over a number of employees. Performs related work as required.
SOME TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
PREFERRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either
a) Master's degree in accounting, public or business administration or related field and, three (3) years responsible experience in account keeping, public or business administration; or
b) Bachelor's degree in accounting, public or business administration or related field and four (4) years responsible experience in account keeping, public or business administration; or
c) An equivalent combination of training and experience as indicated in a) and b) above.
PLEASE NOTE: Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education.
SCHEDULE: Day shift, Monday to Friday, On call
SALARY RANGE: $90,000 - $100,000 per year
