Putnam County, New York is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Commissioner of Highways and Facilities.The Commissioner of Highways and Facilities is appointed by the County Executive subject to confirmation by the County Legislature.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This is administrative and supervisory work of a complex nature which involves responsibility for planning, developing and constructing and repairing a modern, safe and efficient County highway system. Additionally, the Commissioner shall have charge and supervision of the design, construction, alterations, maintenance and repairs of County buildings, parking areas, drives, walks, docks, parks and other structures and facilities in the nature of public works under the jurisdiction of the County. General direction is exercised over a number of supervisory employees. Performs related work as required.
SOME TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess New York State licensure as a Professional Engineer.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Per Putnam County Charter §9.01, the holder of this position must reside within fifty linear miles from the Putnam County Department of Highways and Facilities, when appointed and continuously throughout his or her appointment.
Salary Range: $133,000.00 - $147,000.00 per year
