Stay Prepared for Air Quality Health Advisories

29 June 2023

An air quality health advisory has been issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Here are some ways you can protect your physical health:

  • Avoid strenuous activities outdoors
  • Keep outdoor activities short or try to move them inside
  • Stay indoors with windows and doors closed
  • Avoid additional pollution indoors, like burning candles or spraying aerosol products
  • Set HVAC systems to recirculate, or close the damper on a window air conditioner (for fine particulate pollution)

If your physical health is affected by the air quality, talk to your healthcare provider.

If your mental health is affected by the air quality, please reach out to one of the resources available in Putnam County:

  • Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: call or text 988
